BLURB: Harper Knox has ripped up his family’s cherry orchard in eastern Washington State and planted grape vines, hoping that a contemplative life making wine might help him conquer his debilitating battle with PTSD.  But on the other side of the state in Seattle, the Singularity Summit, a conference celebrating and encouraging the growth of artificial intelligence, is about to get underway.  The controversial nature of the Summit has many reeling in fury, and protesters are taking over the city.  A man Harper has been fighting alongside since Fort Bragg shows up at the vineyard offering a generous payday if Harper will join a team charged with protecting Dr. Wilhelm Sebastian, the keynote speaker at the Summit.  Hungry for the cash and the danger, Harper agrees to join the team.  But has he signed onto something much bigger and deadlier than just another bodyguard gig.  As much a love story as it is a gripping thriller, Turn Or Burn, driven by the wonderfully cynical Harper Knox, will keep you up late into the night.

Cover: “Milovaná” Czechoslovakian version of “Beloved” by Beatrice Small

I have recently done a few covers for Baronet, a publishing company in Czechoslovakia who has the Czechoslovakian translation rights to many well known  romance novels. A lot of times when a publishing company gains the translation rights, they have to have a new cover created. That’s where I come in. I have to admit, I’m quite giddy about this, but shhh! Don’t tell them! I have to play it cool and professional. 😉

Our most recent project was on the cover for the Czechoslovakian version of Beatrice Small’s “Beloved”, translated to “Milovaná“.

The print editions are hardcover not paper back, and I do not add the back text, or inner flap information because, well I don’t read Czechoslovakian. So I leave it blank for the publishing company to add. The hardcover wrap is what makes the overall flattened image look so long compared to my usual paperback print editions.

Cover: “Voyeurs of Death” by Shaun Jeffrey + B&A

I recently finished up the new cover for author Shaun Jeffrey’s collection of short horror stories, “Voyeurs of Death“. He requested that a not so familiar Scottish monster called the Flibbertigibbet be featured on the cover. His description included things such as ” a kilt of flesh adorned with a sporran of skulls”, “a set of pipes made from skin and bone”, and “large horns sticking out of its head like a stag and its features were thing and drawn, its eyes glowing white”. I certainly had my work cut out for me! I have included a before and after at the end of the post.

Now available on ebook and coming soon to print!

Before & After Request: Emily Chambers

I had a guest comment with a request on my Before and After page to show the b&a of The Emily Chambers Spirit Medium Series by CJ Archer. Even though I am not sure which of the books they wanted to see, I aim to please. So here are the before and afters for all three!

Ok, I admit it, my little image equation up there might be a tad difficult to understand when you’re not in my head. So I will break it down. For consistency we used the same background image on all three covers, and the same model.

Here is book one’s (The Medium) images broken down:

Book two’s (Possession)

When we came to book three (Evermore), we realized we were out of stock images of this model! SO I took the model’s head off of book two and found an image with this [odd] woman who was dressed right and had a pretty parasol to boot! Never mind the red spotlight…

And there you have it! The covers for The Emily Chambers Spirit Medium series. Admittedly there weren’t a ton of images involved, but they definitely came together as completely different, original covers.

BLURB: When Naomi discovers a unicorn horn in her late grandfather’s belongings, she doesn’t actually believe it’s real, but her grandfather had meant for her to have it, so she takes it home. While cleaning it, she accidentally pricks herself on the horn’s point and is magically transported to another planet that is filled with strange and dangerous creatures. The most dangerous being her brand new husband—Lord Tavik. Naomi doesn’t know much about her brand new husband, not even what he looks like, and he assures her that if she tries to sneak a peek at his face, he’ll kill her.

Needless to say, Naomi desperately wants to go home, but that poses a problem because the only way she knows how is by unicorn horn, and the one she had, stayed on Earth. Her best hope is a crazy witch named Agatha, but Agatha is the one who tricked her into marrying Tavik. And then RAN OFF. Naomi must find a way to ditch her husband, find the witch, and get a unicorn to send her back home. It shouldn’t be that hard to find a virgin, right?
