The new cover for author Kristin Decker’s “The Unveiling: An American Teacher in a Saudi Palace

*****

BLURB: “Teach my children to think!” exclaimed the young princess. “They’ve had enough facts, facts and more facts stuffed into their heads.” She dreamed that her children would be able to speak and negotiate with leaders of countries from around the world as they assumed their eventual roles in leadership. She also realized that an American education was consistent with her Islamic faith stating that American schools taught students how to think without telling them what to think.

My husband and I eagerly accepted positions as private tutors for this visionary princess in Saudi Arabia. She dreamed of providing the  best education possible for her children and secretly opened a private school. We championed her dreams as if they were our own. However, a year later, we encountered a medieval system of palace intrigue and subterfuge. Under threat of imprisonment, we were detained and coerced into signing false statements. Would God’s deliverance come in time or would we be forgotten and imprisoned in a foreign land? Journey with us to the center of the human heart and to the mysterious Kingdom of Saudi Arabia where the shifting sands are full of dreams, intrigue and revenge.

Need a Pre-made Cover?

Pre-made covers can be an authors best friend, especially when you are in a time crunch. A lot of designers offer various designs at various pricing, the problem is, finding these designers!

If you’ve wandered around my site at all, you know I offer a handful of pre-made covers that gets updated periodically. Unfortunately I don’t have the time I’d like to make lots and lots of pre-mades, nor do a lot of other designers, being busy with all the custom designs and what not.

So a close knit group of us, who have been working together as friends (helping each other out behind the scenes, teaching and learning, or just plain venting) got together to create a one stop spot to show off our pre-made covers that are available for sale. We’ve created a facebook page called the Cover Art Collective. Each designer has their own Album you can browse through, containing all the information you need to purchase.  Not something there you are looking for? Find the designer that fits the style you are looking for and contact them about a custom made cover!

Currently there are designs from a dozen different designers, ranging from Romance, to Science Fiction, to Thrillers, and more added all the time!

Come check it out and “like” the page to keep up to date!

My Birthday Present to Myself

Last Thursday was my birthday. We won’t mention any numbers related to age here so don’t ask! As a present for myself, I forced myself to get up at 5 am (after not falling asleep till after 2am!) to be able to take a few hours of “me” time before the rest of the house was awake. I packed up my camera gear and head to a local park along the Grand River here in Michigan.

When I got there, the actual park was closed, had a locked gate and the sign said open from 7am-10pm. Didn’t think of that before I crawled out of bed! But I shrugged it off and figured I head down to the river where the boat launch is since that gate was open.  The sun was just rising, and a heavy fog had settled over the river. Such a beautiful peaceful sight! It gave me a [slight] understanding as to why some people are morning people.

I spent a little over an hour shooting along the river, and in/around some of the swampy, overflow areas. BTW, the river was high again, and the dock for the boat launch was under water.

After finishing up there, I headed back into the park once it was open, to walk the trails and work on some macro photography.

Mostly I’ve been trying to shoot insect macro pics lately.

All in all, it was an amazing morning. Best birthday present to myself ever! But then I had to pack up and head to the dentist for a root canal 🙁  And no, there are NO pics of that!
